DescriptionThe mill has been rebuilt on the original foundation. Robert E. Lee was born in Stratford Hall, son of Henry Lee, governor of Virginia and Revolutionary War hero. Here also were born Richard Henry Lee and Francis Lightfoot Lee, only the brothers to sign the Declaration of Independence. Th Westmoreland County mansion, built into the shape of an H, stands on cliffs above the Potomac. The Plantation's mill, above, has been built on the original foudation.
