DescriptionSaint James School is an independent, secondary, boarding and day school. Founded in 1842 as the College of Saint James, the School is a coeducational college preparatory school. The history of this school, six miles from Hagerstown in the Cumberland Valley, goes back to 1842, when it was opened as St. James Hall. From 1844 until the Civil War-when it closed because the Confederates seized its head as hostage- it was the College of St. James. In 1869it was re-opened as a secondary school. It is Episcopalian.
