DescriptionThe first big Baltimore stadium of 1921 was little more than an earthen bowl with plank seats, but the U. S. Naval Academy played some important football games there. In 1954 on the same site a new War Memorial Stadium was built, and Baltimore entered the major leagues with the football Colts and baseball Orioles, both of which have won national championships several times. This All Star Game was played in 1958 to a full house of 49,375 baseball fans.
