This website is a presentation of the
life work of world-renowned photojournalist A. Aubrey Bodine,
a photographer in the pictorialist style, who worked for the
Baltimore Sun for 50 years – from 1920 until his death in 1970.

The creation of this website was motivated by a special program on Maryland Public Television: Images of Maryland, which aired in March and August 2000. There are now more than 3,950 archival images published on the website. Return often to see these incredible images from a truly gifted photographic talent. The Dynamic Mini-Gallery (on the home page) features more than 545 selections from the extensive online collection of more than 4,000 images. Click the Run button to display a new image at the specified speed. Or use the Next or Back buttons to manually change the image display. Click on one of the images to display it large in the Gallery with Title, Description and Date, and where you will find buttons to purchase a note card or reprint of the image. The Books page lists the 6 books published with the selected images of A. Aubrey Bodine. Legend In His Time is the book written by Aubrey's editor at the Sunday Sun, Hal Williams, shortly after Aubrey died. The full text of the book is presented here. This book, and 4 others, are currently out of print. They will soon all be posted to this website. After the images have been scanned, the books will be available on CD-ROM. Look for them! Click on the MyBodines navigation link at the top of every page to see all of the images you have seen in the Gallery while visiting this website. We currently have 36 collections with 4 to 8 images selected by theme. The Card Packs page lists the collections with a short description. The Categories page features a list of categories to select and display images by any of 250 subjects. The images will soon be classified and searchable by keywords (such as: who, what, where, when and why) for more precise image location and selection. This is an e-commerce enabled website. Copies of these images can be purchased as note cards or photograph quality reprints. Please visit our Gift Shop to learn more.
