Seven A. Aubrey Bodine photographs evoking a patriotic theme have been selected by the directors of the Edward Carter Gallery to accompany the work of over 18 other photographers in a special show to support the 9-11 cause.

Reprints of these seven A. Aubrey Bodine photographs are available for sale at the Gallery for $30 for an 11" x 14". Also, a pack of seven note cards is available for $20.

For years, photographer A. Aubrey Bodine's images of Baltimore urban life and the beauty of the Chesapeake Bay graced the pages of the Baltimore Sun. Anyone of a certain age in Baltimore will remember his work featured in the Sunday pictorial. Contemporary Sun photographer Jed Kirschbaum's poetic and lyrical work has also defined our lives with a generation of images. Guest lecture by Kathleen Ewing of the Kathleen Ewing Gallery, Bodine biographer and John Dorsey, former Sun art critic and independent writer.

Reflections on the Bay: The Photography of A. Aubrey Bodine


at The Mariners' Museum, Newport News, VA.

This is a beautiful and very well-designed presentation of over 100 A. Aubrey Bodine images from the Museum's collection.  There is also a display of some of the awards and plaques that his pictures won when exhibited in world-wide salon competitions.  In addition, a model darkroom has been set up using some of Aubrey's tools and gadgets to give an appreciation of his workspace.

There is a traveling exhibit developed by the Mariners' Museum, Newport News, Virginia, under a grant by the Virginia Commission for the Arts and The National Endowment for the Arts.  Details are available on the Mariners' Museum A. The Maryland in Focus Traveling Photo Exhibit will be showcasing photographs by A. Aubrey Bodine.  Traveling show dates:

  • July 3 to August 13, Annapolis State House and then Worcester County Public Library, Ocean Pines
  • August 28 to October 9, Wicomico County Historical Society, Salisbury, and then the Frederick County Public Library, Frederick
  • October 23 to December 4, Caroline County Central Library, Denton, and then the Carroll County Public Library, Westminster
